The Coastal Code provides clear and realistic guidelines
for all those involved in day-to-day management: local authorities
as well as commercial interests. It deals with direct threats
(habitat destruction) as well as indirect threats (habitat degradation
and health impacts on wildlife and humans as a result of pollution).
The Coastal Code project represents a vital effort to put the
principles of sustainable development into practice, at all levels
of society.
